Back online

After another hectic week we're back online. The 'Hell on Wheels' movie night last Saturday was a great success with over 100 from our group alone & a great movie from Germany.

The shop move is still on track & we are turning over alot of specials at present , 2005 bikes are getting low but there are still some excellent value carbon road bikes, hydraulic disc mtb etc. from Giant. Email or ring Steve for details.

The Tour is just around the corner & SBS Tv coverage this year will hopefully give us Tour overload. The Tour's website can be found here: http://www.letour.fr/2005/presentationus/index.html

To get you in the mood , international road cycling has a new 'Roy & HG' style parody podcast called 'Cycling insight' which can be heard here: http://www.cyclinginsight.com/

If you want a good chuckle I stumbled across an injury calculator from insurance company : Sportscover. If you are a over 60 horserider I wouldn't leave the house.http://www.sportscover.com/calculator.html

Jan Ullrich

Organisers at the Tour de Suisse weren't anticipating a rider of Jan Ullrich's size being in the leader's shirt. They had some spare mediums but only one large so the hotel washing machine has been busy keeping the shirt clean for each stage ! :)

Movie night

Ticket sales for Saturday nights 'Hell on Wheels' are going well but we can still sell some more as the venue seats 500! (see older posts for details)
If you can't get in the shop just drop me an email.
We will have a display of cycling gear in the lobby on the night so bring your credit card :)

Naked cyclists to reclaim Spanish streets : Naked save for their helmets, a group of militant cyclists held anti-car protests in several Spanish cities, calling for "more human and liveable cities," less pollution and more room for pedestrians and bicycles.

Olympic track events culled

One of the oldest cycling events at the Olympics :the 1km track timetrial plus the 500m Women's TT have been removed from the Beijing Olympics to make way for bmx events. The Australian & British federation are obviously upset because these events have been rich in medals for these nations in recent years.

A piece of memorabilia from Bruce's 1974 ride across Australia. Posted by Hello

Team patron Bruce Hunt. Most cyclists around Perth should have come into contact with Bruce over the past 30 years. Bruce is an inspiration to us all , at over 60 years of age he is still riding A Grade Masters & even placed second a few weeks back. Some of his past palmares include: Medals in Australian Road Championships, Guiness Book of Records for Trans-Continental Perth-Sydney record of 11 days in 1974, & among many races completed the 1978 Tour of Britain (won by V.D.Velde) & arrived to ride the 1978 World Road Championships in Germany but a managerial 'stuff-up' left him on the sidelines. So next time this guy inflicts some pain on you & you are still in your 'thirties' like me don't worry too much :)) Posted by Hello

Back online

Back online after 2 solid days work of setting up the security at our new shop also thanks to Fenton & welder Dave , plus the local fish & chip shop for energy. Still a bit deaf from having a 700W masonry impact drill next to my ear :)

Today was R&R as its a holiday here in the West so the Ideal guys & girls (well the one that didn't go to Kalgoorlie races) went out on a 2hr mtb ride through Kalamunda-Pickering Brook-Munda Biddi-Observatory-Piesse Brook-Mitchell Rd climb-Walliston-Kalamunda.
Pure heaven & not another rider or walker in sight which rather contadicts the recent West Australian article (beatup) about 10,000 cyclists hitting the tracks & conflict with walkers! If this is the case :)? I would suggest heading Pickering Brook way instead of John Forrest direction for your next ride.

We are tentatively organising a film night in Leederville for the already mentioned Hell on Wheels for next Saturday night the 18th will post more details when the session times are fixed.
