Cyclepassion German-style
German Anke Wilken introduces the world to road bikes & glamour with her 'Cyclepassion' 06 calender. If you need to ask how much .....as the saying goes... you probably can't afford it . But seriously I see it is about 25UKP in Europe but if I get enough interest I can probably get some in a future Euro shipment.

2006 Mtb features XtC1 & 2
Image 1 : Avid brakes are part of the SRAM group (Rockshox, Avid, SRAM, Truvativ) which is beginning to rival Shimano on high-end mtb bikes. The Avid Juicy brakes are featured on the XtC1 & 2 among others. Lock-on grips(with 2 allen-key bolts) are standard issue on the XtC1 & 2 among others.
Image 2: SRAM's alternative take on the rear derailleur.
Image 3: Race Face cranks have always been popular & now feature the rigid external bearing system. (XtC2)
Image 4&5: Pop-loc by RockShox is featured on GIANT's high-end mountain bikes , this feature activated by a trigger on the bars & enables the adjustment of the fork to reduce compression when climbing & riding on smooth surfaces at high speed.

New road bikes
New road bikes arriving soon , these represent excellent value for their specification for entry-mid level road bikes. The Samurai model features Shimano's 105 9sp gearing on a sub-$1000 bike. The Ninja features the soon to be released Shimano 105 10 sp equipment which will run concurrently with its 105 9sp sibling.

Duratec hi-res images
Tour de France stage winner Jan Svorada wins the 2005 Elite road championships of the Czech/Slovak Republics. Jan rides a custom DURATEC Cool Rx2 equipped with Shimano Dura Ace.
Some new hi-res images of 2005/6 Duratec bikes & frames. Above is the 'European-made' Heroine CR1 bike & frame , the frame in the 'skunkworks' finish. I enthasise European-made because very few 'boutique' carbon frames with top euro names are actually made in Europe, due to lax euro content laws just painting a frame could be considered 'Made in Italy' ! The forks are made in Taiwan like everybody elses :)
These frames are custom-made to your requirements & can even be made as a track version with all aluminium rear triangle. Not bad for a 2500$ pricepoint but if you want one of these beauties for summer you better be quick as production time for these is double the normal 4-6 week wait for Duratec's aluminium frames pictured below.
MAGNETIC T7 TRACK FRAME
FAST!!! A FULLY KITTED SPRINTER TIME-TRIAL BIKE.
A popular mtb marathon bike in Europe , the Sonix CX with internally-routed cables to keep shifting beautifully crisp. Pictured with XTR finishing kit.
After Belgians the Czechs are the World's leading cyclo-cross riders hence Duratec also produce a top-level cyclocross frame.

Canadian Outback
Being a commited 'Europhile' (Continetal Europe that is, anywhere West of the UK) I was never that keen when my wife wanted to go to Canada , I just thought of it as Australia without the sun. Anyway one of our friends forwarded these image of mountain biking near Spruce Lake & I am sure this will encourage a few of our readers to hop on a plane next summer.

NEW Giant road bikes
Back online after another manic week , more & more 2006 bikes from GIANT are arriving daily with some really nice surprises when we get them out of the boxes. We have over 50 Giant bikes on the floor so you pop in for a browse. I managed to weigh a couple of the new road bikes as the new OCR Zero seemed amazingly light even in size L for a $2000 road bike out of the box.
2006
OCR2 size Medium 9.8kg (including reflectors & accessories)
OCR1 size Medium 8.85kg ( "" "")
OCR Zero LARGE 8.67kg (" "") logic would mean a smaller size will be lighter :)
From 2005 we still have some Composite Zero's in size Small 46.5mm with all the carbon goodies & a bike without pedals as they are sold will weigh in at 7.63kg. At $2999 these basically @#$$% all over the opposition but above price is while stocks last.

Congratulations Ondrej Sosenka
Congratulations Ondrej Sosenka beating Chris Boardman's Hour record at Moscow's indoor velodrome. The Hour records is equivalent to the mile record in athletics & Lance Armstrong was expected to attack the record before his retirement. Andrej comes from my second city: Prague, is renowned as an ace time-triallist & one of the tallest riders in the peloton. This kind of blows the aerodynamics out of the water as he stop alot more air than Chris.
The bike was equipped with Czech-made Gebhardt chainring as imported by Ideal Cycles, the bike was a Moser.

Tour team links
Team links for 2005 Tour, some have diaries , biometrics, competitions etc. T-Mobile's site is particularly good as you would expect from the Germans. You don't realise how many personel it takes to run a pro team the calibre of T-Mobile-Giant. Click on the management pages it brings up a few familiar names from the past in pro cycling especially guys like Ludwig & Kummer from the former DDR squad that i had the misfortune :) to race against in the late 80's.
