Rides around Perth: Swan Valley

The Swan Valley Region The start at the Chocolate Factory, West Swan Road . Follow the cycle path north & follow the bike route signs onto the pituresque George St with it horse stud farms

We rode up to John St just South of the Gnangara road intersection in Henley Brook & then backtracked to Douglas Rd to try the new Maali cycle/pedestrian bridge which enables cyclist to slash kilometres of their trip & cut through to the Great Northern Highway at Herne Hill.

The Swan Valley's own switchback down to the Swan River & across the exclusive Sittella Winery.

The Mondo Nougat factory awaits about 200 metres south from where Barrett St meets Gt Northern Highway. Open since August 05 it has everything to cater for the sweet tooth.

Meeting the animals on the return trip.
Back along West Swan Road.A stop at one of the many roadside fruit stops south of Middle Swan Road & abunch of grapes for the effort.

The Swan Valley to the North-east of Perth is recognised as a tourism mecca for wine & food lovers for locals & overseas visitors alike. Unfortunately this popularity has meant the limited roads in the area have become very busy over the past decade especially on the weekends. Fortunately the Shire of Swan has recently gone someway in relieving the problem for cyclists by installing a safe cycling route in the area which can be enjoyed by the family to visit some of the local sites.
